Diyar event discusses land trends

Diyar Al Muharraq, one of Bahrain’s largest mixed-use master-planned developments, recently held a discussion event focused on land use trends and international best practices applied in this field.

The “Leadership Conversation” with the cooperation of Urban Land Institute (ULI), an international non-profit organisation specialized in urban development and land use disciplines, took place at Shaikh Ibrahim Center in Muharraq, Bahrain.

Senior officials from the public and private sector at the event also explored collaboration avenues amongst developers and policy makers to create innovative and practical solutions to overcome current and potential challenges.

The event was headed was divided into four main topics: leadership in the responsible use of land, leadership in challenging economic times, leadership in your community, and the Mena City in 2050 initiative.

“We are very pleased to cooperate with Diyar Al Muharraq, which has become a leading promoter of environmental awareness and sustainable development in recognition of the profound impact these issues have on society in general,” said Mickael Horst, senior vice president of ULI.

“Our ultimate aim here tonight was to open up new channels of constructive communication in order for us to build a better future for all,” he added.

The session is a part of a larger initiative launched by Diyar Al Muharraq in collaboration with the ULI to sponsor nonprofit activities, school and educational programs for the development of all segments of society, including students, businessmen, and decision makers in Bahrain and abroad.

In addition, Diyar Al Muharraq agreed to financially support the distribution of all ULI’s printed materials to a number of leading educational institutes universities, as well as supporting the institute’s various educational and awareness activities aimed at both the private and public sectors.

With 30,000 properties planned housing for over 120,000 people, Diyar Al Muharraq will offer 40 kilometers of waterfront.

This will include walkways, sea-facing parks, sandy beaches and a marina with a waterfront promenade. – TradeArabia News Service
