Bahrain offers the cheapest real estate developments in the Middle East and there remains a lot of demand from both locals and from outside the country.

But while demand is good and prices are good there is still a lack of confidence in the market from investors.

That was the message from developer RMK projects president and chief executive officer Ishaq Al Kooheji yesterday at the openning of the Nasmah Tower in Jufair which was sold out in less than two weeks.

'Despite the economic slowdown and the construction activity scaled down across the country and the region Nasmah has progressed and completed,' he said.

'We would like to thank all our customers, contractors and suppliers for their continuous support and trust in our project.'

He said that he expected investor confidence in real estate to return in the very near future in Bahrain where the construction industry had suffered a lot less than elsewhere in the region.

'We sold the properties in this building in one stage because we wanted no interruptions in the development,' he said. 'Other developments have been held up but this one went ahead.'

Nasmah, which means 'a breath of fresh air' in Arabic, is an affordable freehold apartment tower consisting of 120 two-bedroom apartments, each with a balcony and offering either city or seaside views. The building has a rooftop swimming pool, a fully-equipped fitness centre, squash court, event hall and other amenities.
