New Bahrain sanitary project showcased

Manama, April 20, 2011

The operations of Muharraq Governorate's Strategic Sanitary Engineering Project in Bahrain were on display at a specially commissioned public exhibition.

It aimed at educating the public and making people familiar with various environmental and health aspects of the project.

The exhibition is organised by the Works and Finance ministries and the Economic Development Board (EDB) in co-ordination with the Muharraq Municipal Council.

The Strategic Sanitary Engineering Project includes the construction of a new sewage treatment plant to the north of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Port and a deep gravity sewer trunk main from Busaiteen to the Hidd Industrial Area.

Construction of the new plant is expected to be completed by August 2013 and will be operational for 25 years.

It will initially operate at a sewage capacity of 100,000 cubic metres per day, but has the potential to increase this figure to 160,000 cubic metres per day in the future.

The exhibition, held at the Muharraq Municipality Building in Busaiteen, will also be open today between 4pm and 8pm.-TradeArabia News Service
