$1bn Al Nurana project hearing adjourned
Manama, April 28, 2011
A lawsuit over a multi-million-dinar project off Bahrain's northern coast has been adjourned.
The action was brought by Northern Municipal Council, which previously rejected the project and said the area should be used for housing.
It claims reclamation on the $1 billion (BD378 million) Al Nurana residential and commercial development started with the approval of officials, despite councillors obtaining a Cabinet order to temporarily halt work in the sea between Busaiteen, in Muharraq, and the Northern Town, off the Budaiya coast, for assessment.
However, Al Manara Development Company behind the project earlier insisted it had not broken any laws and said it waited three years for the green light to start work. The High Civil Court yesterday adjourned the case until May 29.-TradeArabia News Service
