Chanel installation lights up Dubai shopping mall

DUBAI, December 31, 2014

Mall of the Emirates, a luxury shopping destination developed by leading retail and leisure pioneer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) in Dubai, UAE, is showcasing the latest art installation from French fashion house Chanel that fuses fashion and art.

A specialist in haute couture and ready-to-wear clothes, luxury goods and fashion accessories, Chanel said these designs have been inspired by creative director Karl Lagerfeld’s cruise collection 2015, which was recently launched in Dubai.

The monumental installation features the high fashion house’s take on the customary Arabesque patterns where each lit cube that hangs at the Fashion Dome represents traditional candle holders with colours and design purely inspired by Chanel’s inter-season ready-to-wear collection.

MAF said the Mall of the Emirates’ picturesque Fashion Dome is quickly becoming established as a desirable showcase and fashion arts venue.

Located in Dubai at Interchange Four on Sheikh Zayed Road, the multi-level shopping centre currently features more than 560 international brands with a total gross leasable area (GLA) of 233,467 sq m including department stores, fashion, lifestyle, sports, electronics and home furnishing outlets and the largest Carrefour in the city.

Mall of the Emirates is ranked as the seventh most lucrative shopping centre in the world by sales per square foot, and first in the Middle East in a study by the International Council of Shopping Centers in 2012, said MAF in its statement.

The key highlights include a Magic Planet family entertainment area, multi-screen VOX Cinemas, the world-renowned Ski Dubai - the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort and snow park, the 500-seat capacity Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (Ductac) and more than 90 international dining and café options. -TradeArabia News Service
