Qatar residential properties 'in big demand'

DOHA, September 23, 2016

There has been a sharp increase in demand for real estate properties in Qatar after a relatively lull market situation owing to summer vacations and Eid holidays, said a report.

The number of residential enquiries received in the month to date were up 23 per cent compared to the same period last year, reported The Peninsula.

There has been a significant jump in the enquires with regard to both residential accommodation and office space in the month to date, according to the report.

The most popular enquiry was for two-bedroom apartments in the range of QR9,000 ($2,469) and QR12,500 ($3,420), closely followed by one-bedroom apartments. The preference was for furnished apartment accommodation, stated the report, citing Qatar's leading real estate company, DTZ.

The search in the villa market for four-bedroom units within a compound on an unfurnished basis was also significant, it stated.

There was also a surge in enquiries for office space, predominantly from the private sector, with 250  sq m to 500 sq m the most searched sizes, the report added.
