Saudi Arabia sees $213m corniche project on track

Work on the massive North Jeddah Corniche project, which is being implemented at a cost of SR800 million ($213 million), is in full swing with nearly 80 per cent of the development already completed, according to a report.
Of the six-phase project, three have already been completed while the fourth and fifth phases are under various stages of construction, said Saudi Gazette, citing the Jeddah city mayor.
The sixth phase, which will be carried out in the future, extends from Jubeir Bin Al-Harith Street to Al-Rahma Mosque in the north, revealed Hani Abu Ras.
The project, which boasts a green area spread over 275,000 sq m, features 12 fountains, water sports parks besides parking for 1,600 vehicles with control, monitoring and warning systems and 96 surveillance cameras, stated the mayor.
"There are 100 rest rooms, 17 recreational open spaces spread on an area of 247,000 sq m with an accommodation capacity of 54,000 people," observed Abu Ras.
"There are canopies, games for children, and prayer areas. Some 12 art pieces by Saudi artists have been installed at various places," he added.
