MANAMA, July 4, 2017

Bahraini authorities have started work on the construction of a one lane entrance and exit to Zayed Town from Sheikh Salman Highway at the southern part of the Driving School.

The project is part of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning’s plan to ease traffic congestion along Isa Town Gate and Salmabad Interchanges and serve Zayed Town residents and also road users taking the road linked to the Labor Ministry.

The scope of work includes levelling, protecting existing services, implementing ground channels for present and future usage, implementing a storm water drainage network in low areas, implementing two reclamation layers, paving works, signage and lighting.

"The project comprises construction of a one lane entrance and exit to Zayed Town from Sheikh Salman Highway, which will provide an alternative to traffic exiting Zayed Town towards Riffa without having to pass through Isa Town Gate traffic signal," explained Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf.

The project will also ease traffic congestion at Salmabad Interchange.

According to him, the total length of the entrance to Zayed Town is 500m and once completed, it will help reduce traffic congestion along Isa Town Gate Interchange and Salmabad Interchange, he stated.
