New RAK law on discount sale

Ras Al Khaimah, May 25, 2008

A new law has been issued with regard to discount sales by Shaikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

The law states that trade stores are not permitted to conduct sales campaigns or advertise such sales through any media outlet, unless there is a prior approval from the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development.

The law also prohibits stores from conducting such sales unless the store is properly registered with the RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The law also limits the sale discount to 25 per cent, while end of season sale is limited to 40 per cent.
