Bahrain launches road show for US investors

Bahrain's Economic Development Board (EDB) has started a five-day intensive road show in the US with the participation of the private sector represented by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The objective of the road show, which started on Monday, is to attract industrial and commercial investments to the kingdom from a number of US cities, with an ultimate target of creating more rewarding jobs for Bahrainis.

The delegation took part in a panel discussion on the first day at the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, the city's most prominent discussion panel.

With more than 10,000 members, speakers at the Los Angeles World Affairs Council events include top representatives of foreign governments (primarily presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, and ambassadors), major figures in American politics, business leaders, journalists and authors, public intellectuals and other notable individuals from fields as diverse as religion, arts, entertainment, science and technology.

EDB chief executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa spoke in the session about the most important developments in the region and Bahrain, showcasing the investment environment in the kingdom, and the opportunities it provides to international investors.

The programme on the first day also included multiple one-on-one meetings between the members of the Bahraini delegation and their counterparts from Los Angeles where they examined co-operation opportunities.

Shaikh Mohammed, accompanied by Bahrain's Ambassador to the US Huda Nonoo, met members of the editorial board of the Los Angeles Times and provided an extensive background about Bahrain in the light of the recent developments.

The day was concluded by a reception dinner hosted by AEG.

The chief executive of AEG welcomed the Bahraini delegation, and Shaikh Mohammed delivered a speech focusing on sectors in which Bahrain and the US can enhance their co-operation.

The Bahraini delegation, travelling to other parts of the US also includes Abdulhameed Al Kooheji, Sameer Nass, Hamed Al Zayani, Khadem Al Saeed, Khalaf Hujair, Mohammed Sajid, Paddy Gallagher, Samer AlJishi and Isa Al Shaiji. – TradeArabia News Service
