Ron Lang has been appointed chief executive officer of SunGard Higher Education.

Lang joined SunGard in 1998 with the acquisition of Infinity Financial Technology.  Most recently he was chief of SunGard’s Enterprise Solutions Group in which he was responsible for SunGard’s global delivery, global account management, consulting services and software-as-a-service initiatives.

From 2000 to 2005,Lang was group chief of SunGard Trading Systems and was also responsible for SunGard Brokerage Systems and SunGard Financial Networks.

Lang has many years of experience in Silicon Valley and earlier in his career held product marketing and product management positions at Sun Microsystems and Apple.

“Ron has the qualities and experience that will help our higher education customers get the most out of their IT investments during these challenging times,” said Cristóbal Conde, president and chief executive officer of SunGard.

At the same time, SunGard announced the retirement of Michael Muratore, who since September has served as interim chief executive officer of SunGard Higher Education.-TradeArabia News Service
