American University of RAK picks UniversiTools

Ras Al Khaimah, June 23, 2009

The newly-launched American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), has selected UniversiTools university software for its comprehensive student information system (SIS) and robust scheduling modules.

AURAK, offering an American style curriculum, is located in the northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The university, established by royal decree from Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qassimi, RAK crown prince and deputy ruler, began operation on June 1.

UniversiTools caters to multilingual universities in the Mena region by offering interfaces in English, French, and Arabic. Regional members of the UniversiTools user community include American University of Beirut (AUB) in Lebanon and American University in Dubai (AUD) in the UAE.

Professor Sharon Siverts, AURAK president, said, White Mountain Technologies, developer of UniversiTools, will install the software before the opening of the fall semester in September.

'Working within a very tight timeframe, we needed a system that facilitates the university’s way of working.'

'We met several vendors but, with UniversiTools, we felt that the product would meet our needs and timeline. We wanted a complete university-based system that could easily be adapted to our uniqueness,' she noted.

“Our goal is to help administrators at universities like AURAK work smoothly and to really benefit from and optimize the features of the software,” said Ghassan Abboud, White Mountain managing director. -TradeArabia News Service
