King Faisal University adopts ICDL program

Riyadh, April 27, 2010

King Faisal University (KFU) of Saudi Arabia has adopted the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) program to enhance the IT knowledge of its personnel.

ICDL Saudi Arabia, the governing body and the certification authority of the ICDL program in the kingdom, will train and certify KFU employees on basic computer skills and the practical use of common desktop applications.

“Saudi Arabia has the largest ICT sector in the Middle East, and so its citizens should also be the most ICT-competent. We have been partnering with the country’s universities to ensure that ICT skills are taught at an early age; it naturally follows that educators and support staff should at least have the basic computer skills necessary to support this advocacy,” said Dr Jamal Al Hefdhi, general manager, ICDL Saudi Arabia.

ICDL Saudi Arabia's courses are sourced from the International Computer Driving Licence, the world's largest vendor-neutral end-user computer skills certification programme owned and coordinated by the European Computer Driving Licence Foundation Limited in Dublin, Ireland.

ICDL is endorsed by education ministries, universities and government organisations in more than 168 countries.-TradeArabia News Service
