GEMS students shine at Global Innovation Challenge

DUBAI, 25 days ago

GEMS Education students recently showcased their creativity and innovation skills at the 7th Global Innovation Challenge 2024, a flagship event in the GEMS calendar.

This nine-month marathon of innovation engaged 350 teams comprising 1,100 young minds, with the winners bagging up to AED10,000 in seeding funds to further develop their ideas and bring them to market.

The Global Innovation Challenge aligns with Dubai’s vision for the future, particularly through initiatives like Dubai Future Solutions – Prototypes for Humanity.

Representing eight GEMS Clusters and 44 schools across the UAE and Qatar, student finalists presented transformative projects addressing critical global issues such as food security, health, gender equality, clean energy, and education. Their journey from ideation to execution included rigorous mentorship and culminated in a grand exhibition and final online presentations to a panel of expert judges.

Hosted by GEMS Modern Academy and graced by the presence of Nargish Khambatta, Senior Vice President – Education of GEMS, the event celebrated the spirit of ingenuity and problem-solving among students.

Jordan Bray, VP of Plug and Play Tech Center, a globally renowned incubation and acceleration platform connecting startups, corporations, venture capital firms, universities, and government agencies, announced mentorship opportunities for the top three teams, helping them in bringing their products to market. Plug and Play is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, and has a footprint expanding to more than 60 locations across five continents.

The event also featured insights from Quddus Pativada, a GEMS alumnus and CEO of AI startup ASI, who shared his entrepreneurial journey and vision for addressing educational disparities globally through digital learning. – TradeArabia News Service
