Rise in awareness of breast cancer

Manama, October 28, 2008

Shoppers are learning more about breast cancer through a month-long awareness campaign being held at Al A'ali Shopping Complex in Seef.

The third annual event, which began on October 15, aims to raise awareness of the implications of breast cancer and the importance of early detection, said a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

'The campaign has been very successful since it was first held two years ago. As in the past, we look forward to garnering further support from our shoppers and the general public towards the cause,' said complex manager Jacques Mizen.

The campaign, in association with the Bahrain Cancer Society, highlights that breast cancer is most effectively treated when detected in the early stages.

It emphasises the need for early detection through regular self-examination, mammograms, ultrasound and learning about lumps.

'We invite the public to come to the complex where not only can they obtain more information on breast cancer and its effects, but will also be able to generously donate towards this worthy cause,' she said. - TradeArabia News Service
