Aspetar to cover medical needs at tennis event

Aspetar, Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital has signed an agreement with Qatar Tennis Federation to offer medical services to all players participating in an upcoming WTA tennis event in Doha.

Qatar Ladies Open will take place at Khalifa Tennis Complex from February 21 to 26.

The agreement will mean Aspetar is the sports medicine sponsor and provider to the Qatar Ladies Open for three years starting 2011 and ending 2013.

“Aspetar proved to be just the right partner for us, so it is our pleasure to sign this three year agreement,” said Karim Alami, tournament director.

“The agreement gives us piece of mind knowing that tennis professionals who come to Qatar to participate in the Qatar Ladies Open will be in safe hands, as the world renowned doctors at Aspetar will be taking care of their medical needs,” he added.

“As part of our commitment and support for the Qatar Ladies Open tennis tournament Aspetar is offering free health check-ups for all players coming to the tournament. It is our ongoing objective to offer the best sports medicine care available to help athletes achieve their full potential,” said Abdul Rahman Al Qahtani, the executive manager of the National Sports Medicine Programme.

The Qatar Ladies Open tournament has been held in Doha since 2001. Current prize money is $721,000. – TradeArabia News Service
