Alwaleed foundation signs Leukaemia research deal

Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation – Global has signed a deal with the EORTC Charitable Trust, chaired by Princess Astrid of Belgium, for high quality research to enable a better understanding of Leukaemia at a molecular level.

The foundation supports European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer's initiation phase of the project ‘Towards the Improvement of the Outcome of Patients with Acute Leukemia.’

The project was selected by a panel of leading experts, to be presented by EORTC at The Annual Congress of the American Society of Hematology in New Orleans in December.

The EORTC was founded as an international organisation under Belgian law in 1962 by eminent oncologists working in the main cancer research institutes of the EU countries and Switzerland.

It was aimed to develop, conduct, coordinate, and stimulate translational and clinical research in Europe to improve the management of cancer and related problems by increasing survival, besides patient’s quality of life.

Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundations focus around strategic initiatives including disaster relief, community development, women and youth empowerment, amd promoting intercultural understanding. - TradeArabia News Service
