UAE natural skincare segment sales to touch $100m

Dubai, May 22, 2014

Al Hikma, a Dubai-based skincare solutions and health products company, has projected that the natural and organic skincare segment of the UAE skincare market would reach $100 million by 2016.

The company distributes natural health products, cosmeceuticals, dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, hospital supplies, medical health care devices and self-diagnostic devices, said a statement.

It also markets and promotes health products in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Eurpor, Canada and Australia through a qualified team of pharmacists and doctors through medical bureaus and drug stores, distributed all over these territories.

Dr Ali F Abdulgader, managing director, said: “Globally, the natural and organic skincare segment forms 25 per cent of the entire skincare industry, however, it is almost 40 per cent in the UAE due to a discerning clientele and significant purchasing power.”

“The fact that the average of customers opting for organic and natural skincare products in the UAE is 15 per cent higher than the global average speaks volumes for UAE customers’ stress on quality in health matters. They are ready to pay a premium to get a quality product that would benefit their skin significantly.”

“Maintaining quality in health products poses a great challenge to pharmaceutical as well as nutraceutical industries globally. We are committed to overcome this challenge by introducing quality based products that are organic and recognized for helping the wellbeing of humans,” said Dr Abdulgader.

The company represents Vitia Floris skincare treatment that enhances natural beauty with a luxury approach which is true to nature and leaves all beautifying elements of the skin intact, said the statement.

It is also the distributor of Vinoderm, a well-known Swiss brand developed by Skin Concept Laboratory.

Ratiba Ayad, brand manager, Al Hikma, said: “All Vinoderm products are based on Pinot Noir, where high-quality red grape grow at the canton of Valais, at the bottom of the Swiss Alps. Particular complexes of ingredients individually combined for each product make Vinoderm exclusive in its properties and structure.”

Toitbel, selected baby products dedicated to protecting and nurturing baby’s delicate skin, is another brand represented by Al Hikma, in addition to Swisscode, an innovative skin care line catering to the international market.

“Swisscode applies the latest scientific findings to quickly and directly implement them in the form of ‘premium skincare line.’ Our Swiss products, developed according to stringent quality criteria, tend to the skin’s individual needs, and help achieve visible results,” said Ayad.

“The major driver of skincare industry is the rising demand for natural and organic skincare products. Growing concern for health and safety are spurring the demand for organic and natural skin care products in the UAE,” Dr Abdulgader added. - TradeArabia News Service
