UAE Health Ministry signs agreement with Emirates Medical Association

DUBAI, November 6, 2017

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Medical Association to explore areas of cooperation and improve skills through education and training at par with global standards.

Emirates Medical Association is a non-profit organisation designed to attend to the needs of physicians and allied health professionals in the UAE.

Through this agreement, Mohap, represented by its training and development centre in Sharjah, looks to discover areas of cooperation and benefit from Emirates Medical Association’s expertise in all areas of the medical field and improve the skills of its employees working in the health sector in order to better serve the community, said a statement from the authority.

The agreement was signed by Saqr Al Hemeiri, director of the training and development centre of Mohap, and Dr Moza Al Sharhan, president of the Emirates Medical Association, and is effective for one year and subject to renewal thereafter, it said.

Al Hemeiri noted the importance of the MoU in providing access to education, training and other sources of learning for staff based on the highest international standards, which can help in improving professional performance and skills, enriching scientific knowledge, and enhancing laboratory and clinical practices in various health aspects, it added.

The partnership is part of the ministry's strategy to ensure that all training services have met international standards in terms of quality and efficiency and meet the organisation’s need to have a strong institutional capacity, through professional development programmes, seminars, campaigns, workshops and conferences on local health problems and solutions.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention is keen to support all aspects of cooperation and coordination that promote continuing medical education to provide excellent health care that serves the community and supports sustainable development.

The parties agreed to work together to provide technical support for the joint programmes, including training facilities and educational materials, and providing accreditation for the continuing education and professional development programmes.

The MoU will facilitate the contribution and attendance of Mohap’s staff in a wide range of educational programmes.

Furthermore, both the organisations shall cooperate in the implementation of the joint training programmes for healthcare staff and in community awareness initiatives.

Al Sharhan hailed the provision of the contents of the medical training programmes to be at par with the latest concepts and international practices, as well as the efforts to upgrade medical and health staff through continuing medical education as it will help raise the level of knowledge and skills of health service providers in the UAE, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
