Agility, a $4.5-billion global logistics provider, has named Thomas J. Griffin president of Agility Project Logistics.

Griffin, an industry veteran, replaces Gregory Rusovich, who is leaving the company to spend more time with his family and to focus on civic and political initiatives, many related to the Katrina recovery efforts in New Orleans, his hometown.

Rusovich has led the project cargo company, founded by his father in 1947 and formerly known as Transoceanic, before it was acquired by Agility in 2005. Houston-based Agility Project Logistics is the specialised business unit of Agility devoted to serving the projects and oil and gas sectors.

In the logistics industry for over 35 years, Griffin has had responsibility for global business development, operations, finance, and administration, with a primary focus on project logistics.

At Agility, Griffin’s most recent position was Agility Project Logistics’ senior vice-president, with global responsibility for operations, business development, and sales. He reports directly to Agility Global Integrated Logistics President and Chief Executive Officer Essa Al-Saleh.

“Gregory has helped build Agility into a true global project cargo leader and we are sorry to see him leave,” said Al Saleh. “We know he will make a great contribution to the City of New Orleans through his ongoing community work there.”

Griffin began his career in international logistics at Behring International, one of the early specialists in oversized cargo and project logistics.  In 1985, he joined Fritz Companies where he rose to the position of vice-president of Global Projects. In 1997, Griffin joined Transoceanic, which was renamed Agility Project Logistics in 2006.

A graduate of the University of Miami, Griffin currently serves as president of The Exporters Competitive Maritime Council. – TradeArabia News Service
