RTA launches Water Bus across Dubai Creek

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has launched the Water Bus across Dubai Creek linking Al Shindaga Station (in the Heritage Village) and Al Seef Station, thus adding a new stream to marine tourism in Dubai.

The launch ceremony was attended by CEO of RTA Marine Agency Mohammad Obaid Al Mulla, manager of Heritage Village in Dubai tourism and commercial marketing department Anwar Al Hanai, director of marine projects department Khalid Mohammad Al Zahed,  director of operation and performance deparatment Ahmed Mohammad Al Hammadi, director of marketing and corporate communication department Dr Aysha Al Busmait and a number of directors and officials representing the RTA and tourism department.

Al Mulla said that the Water Bus has come as a result of concerted efforts and concepts to provide a new marine transit mode to shuttle across Dubai Creek. The purpose of proving and running the Water Bus is to enhance mass transit modes, ease congested spots and ensure smooth traffic flow.

'The Water Bus also aims at providing an appropriate tourist setting that matches well with the tourist requirements of the emirate of Dubai. In this sense it forms a part of a well-coordinated tourist network linked with all the existing marine projects in the emirate, ushering the era of marine tourism in the Dubai,' added Al Mulla.

The Water Bus over this line will start from 8am and continue up to 12midnight throughout the week. Marine excursions by the Water Bus, which accommodates 36 passengers, are offered across Dubai Creek in a trip that lasts for 45 minutes with 15 minutes headway. - TradeArabia News Service
