Bahrain's Alba operating at full capacity

London, March 15, 2011

Aluminium Bahrain is in full operation, the company said on Tuesday, despite protests on the Gulf island kingdom where the government has declared martial law.

'Aluminium Bahrain is operating at full capacity, and remains unaffected by the current situation in the kingdom,' the company said in a statement.

'The company hasn't suffered from any logistical disruption in the supply of raw material nor in the production and the export of aluminium.'

Meanwhile, shipping sources said Bahrain ports remained open but the growing unrest had led to staff shortages and slower operations.

"Port operations (in Bahrain) have been at a slow pace for the last two days," a shipping source said. "Some people are not reporting for duty," the source added.-Reuters
