Kedu launches innovative delivery service

Dubai, April 4, 2011

An innovative parcel delivery service called Parzel has been launched by Kedu in the UAE.

The Parzel solution, the first of its kind in the UAE, will provide the logistics industry with greater levels of efficiency, better technology and less complexity, said a statement.

Parzel is the brainchild of Obaid Al-Qahash, managing director of Kedu and his team of seasoned automation experts and logistics professionals.

Al-Qahash said: “Over the last two years, we’ve invested heavily in researching this sector to find a viable, true alternative for the logistics market in the UAE.  Our deep knowledge and experience on the ground allows us to offload the technological burden for our partners to streamline the processes. Corporates require choice and we believe that the Parzel system will broaden the landscape and ultimately, give end users a service that fits with their lifestyle and provides an environmentally friendly alternative.’

The company today launched three machines in DIFC, Marina Walk and Dubai Marina Mall. “We have plans to develop this aggressively over the next 6-12 months. We will be looking at expanding the offering across Dubai initially with a view to installing more machines in high density, high traffic locations across the Emirates and eventually, wider markets,” he said.

Parzel is an automated service that allows one to deliver or collect parcels at an easy to access  location. Automated booths are available for self-service parcel collection 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Parzel delivers services via touch screen kiosks with separate, secure compartments for each delivery. Compartments are allocated per transaction based on specific size and weight requirements. The choice of which Parzel station location to use is up to the customer.

How does this system work?

For logistics firms: There is an announcement of the delivery on the Parzel network; Following the announcement, there is an automated booking of storage space in the customers chosen location; Once the delivery is placed in the compartment, the customer receives a text message with notice that the parcel is ready for collection

For Consumers: Logistics companies deposit the parcels in the preferred locations; Customer alerted to the delivery’s location and pin number via SMS.

”We are proud to be launching our flagship product, and introducing our automation solution to the industry in UAE. We believe that this solution will serve the communities in the UAE, and provide logistic providers with efficient alternative means of first and last mile delivery and collection.” Al-Qahash said. – TradeArabia News Service
