Mubadala, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company, has confirmed its role as foundation partner for the inaugural Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (GMIS).

 

The summit will run from October 10 to 12, 2016 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

 

It is a joint initiative between the UAE’s Ministry of Economy and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), said a statement.

 

As a prominent global platform for the manufacturing sector, the event will bring together governments, the private sector and civil society to incubate transformational ideas and unlock new value chains that advance and promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development worldwide, it said.

 

It will additionally seek to bridge the opportunity gap between emerging and advanced nations for wider global development.

 

Mubadala’s mandate includes developing entirely new industries for the UAE in support of GDP diversification, skilled employment creation, and integrating the UAE into global manufacturing and technology value chains, said the statement.

 

Its accompanying role in developing critical social infrastructure to provide essential healthcare and educational facilities for current and future generations of UAE citizens makes the company a strategic Founding Partner and contributor to the GMIS agenda.

 

The companies across the Mubadala Group will serve as active participants at GMIS, contributing to working groups on topics at the heart of Mubadala’s strategy, including collaborating for competitive advantage, enabling knowledge and technology transfer, and creating a sustainable and attractive climate for high-skilled employment and innovation as key enablers for economic and private sector growth.
