British firm TRL opens new office in Dubai

DUBAI, December 15, 2016

UK-based Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), a global centre for innovation in transport and mobility, has strengthened its operations in the Middle East with the opening of a new office in Al Barsha, Dubai, UAE.

The launch further strengthens TRL’s growing footprint in the UAE, adding to the company’s existing offices in Abu Dhabi, said a statement from the company.

The British firm has been advising clients in the UAE for over nine years and operates across the Middle East region. It had previously done consultancy and research studies in Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Egypt.

It will now provide key services in road safety, traffic and congestion management, materials research and testing and sustainability from its new office, said the company.

Strategically positioned within the heart of the Middle East’s business and transport hub, it will provide enhanced access to TRL expert services for new and existing clients, including the Dubai RTA, Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, it added.

The move is part of TRL’s investment in the UAE and reaffirms the company’s role in shaping the future of transport.

Alastair Long, director of trade and investment, British Embassy, said: “I am delighted that TRL continues to grow its business in Dubai and the wider Middle East. I have worked with them in other markets and know the quality of their work.”

As Dubai seeks to lead the region for innovation, including Expo 2020 and various ’smart’ programmes of work, TRL will also be offering its pedigree of cutting edge research, covering areas such as autonomous and connected vehicles, ultra-low emission vehicles and smart city/transportation innovations, he added.

The new office will be led by Tawab Kazemi, UAE director and head of transportation at TRL.

Kazemi has worked in the UAE for more than a decade and is regarded as one of the company's most experienced and knowledgeable transport engineers.

He has worked regionally on engagements covering road and rail safety as well as on private and public transport policy and research, it said.

On his new role, Kazemi said: "Dubai has a rapidly developing transportation system that is evolving to cater to the needs of its diverse and growing population. Its ambition and desire to innovate across all forms of transport, aligns with our own mission to drive improvements in future transport."

“Through the opening of the new office, TRL is well placed to help Dubai succeed in planning and implementing safe, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all,” he said.

Akin Adamson, the director for Middle East, TRL, said the launch of the Dubai office was another significant step in its support for growth in the UAE.

“We already have a strong presence in the UAE, but the Dubai office will enable us to further broaden our expert services in the region, ensuring our company retains and strengthens its leading role in helping to create a global transport system that is safe, clean, affordable, liveable and efficient,” he added.- TradeArabia News Service
