Sharjah Tatweer hosts project management workshop

SHARJAH, May 8, 2017

The Sharjah Tatweer Forum (STF), an initiative of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, has successfully conducted a project management workshop as part of the Project Management Congress of the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa).

The workshop held at the Radisson Blue Resort in Sharjah, UAE, was in line with its mission to develop the capabilities of the youth and human capital of the country.

The congress, which was held in cooperation with the STF and Alleem Business Congress, was attended by project management experts who have extensive knowledge and experience in management training programmes, said a statement from the company.

The interactive workshop covered a wide range of topics, which were designed to provide participants with essential project management insights and tools, such as the work breakdown structure (WBS), network diagram, and Gantt charts, it said.

The forum also focused on project lifecycle; scope, time and cost constraints; and risks and opportunities involved in project management during the discussions, it added.

This year’s edition of the congress threw the spotlight on concepts including ‘Professional Project Management’; ‘Where do Projects Come From and Their Selection?’; ‘Introducing the Business Case’; ‘Alignment of Projects to Strategy’; ‘What is needed to support Project Delivery?’; ‘Projects vs. Operations’; ‘What is a Project and What is Operations?’; ‘Project Management as the Tactical Skill of Delivery’; ‘The Project Manager and Stakeholders’; and ‘Scoping and the WBS’.

Jassem Albloushi, member of the board of trustees, Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, said: “Our cooperation with Sewa, especially in the organisation of the congress, supports our strategic vision to work closely with the public and private sectors to promote business excellence in Sharjah and the UAE.”

“STF aims to develop the skills and abilities of young leaders in the field of project management, as it is considered a vital developing sector. This also aligns with STF’s objective of encouraging the best practices in business management and entrepreneurship,” he said.

“Project management is fundamental for businesses progress. It also encourages the development of new products and services, in addition to enhancing workflow. Moreover, it plays a key role in ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget, in addition to optimising the results with several organisational benefits,” Albloushi concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
