Marsol receives new ISO health, safety certification

DUBAI, August 6, 2018

Marsol International Limited, a leading commercial and technical marine service solutions company, has been awarded ISO 45001:2018 certification by Bureau Veritas.

With its main operating and commercial office in Dubai and extensive experience in the offshore marine terminals business, the accreditation, claimed to be the first company in the UAE to receive it, reflects Marsol’s commitment to superior standards and employee safety, said a statement from the company.

The ISO 45001:2018 was developed to replace OHSAS 18001:2007 and is intended to enable organisations to proactively improve occupational health and safety (OH&S) performance, it said.

It provides a framework to help improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions – areas which are recognised to have particular impact within the oil and gas industry, it added.

Mike Young, director at Marsol, said: “We work to create and develop local resources and capability to facilitate efficient, superior, in-country operations.”

“We work to the latest international standards within the oil industry and have a focus on ensuring our work is carried out to superior standards. It makes sense for our business to include the new ISO 45001:2018 standard within our operations,” he added.

Being the first to achieve the accreditation in the UAE reflects Marsol’s forward-looking approach to operational activities within the oil industry. Its experience spans development, design and construction of purpose built terminal support vessels and assets and includes co-development of Oil Spill Response Plans for major global stakeholders, said a statement.

Having worked in more than 20 countries, the new international OH&S framework used by Marsol will support its work to serve the global oil industry, it said.

Young said: “We are passionate about the work we do and OH&S is a big part of that, which is why we have been so keen to embrace the new ISO standard.”

“Our services concentrate on enhancing operational integrity and cost efficiency, optimising the lifetime of an asset, maximising availability and reducing risk. Working towards a safer working environment is better for us, our employees and our clients,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
