New role for Microsoft Bahrain manager

Cairo, August 21, 2007

Sherif Bayoumi, Microsoft Bahrain country manager, will be relocating to his home country of Egypt to take on the new role of EPG director at Microsoft Egypt.

Microsoft Gulf said Bayoumi’s new position sees him remain in the Microsoft family in a role where he will be responsible for overseeing all enterprise customer relationships at Microsoft Egypt.

Microsoft has enjoyed a strong presence in the kingdom, celebrating its fourth anniversary just recently with the announcement that the Bahrain office is now one of the global offices where MEA employees can choose to be based.

The expansion of Microsoft ‘s operations was heralded by the move to larger  premises located in the Seef District, confirming the company’s dedication to the Kingdom of Bahrain and its plans for economic development.

Under Bayoumi’s diligent supervision, Microsoft Bahrain formed strong ties with the government and important bonds with the businesses of Bahrain, making the Kingdom an increasingly important and strategic location with nearly 150 Microsoft partners.

“I am leaving Bahrain with mixed emotions” said Bayoumi,

“While I am excited about this new role that will take me back to my own country, I am sad to leave such a wonderful team of dedicated professionals who oversaw the outstanding growth of Microsoft Bahrain and will continue to do so in the future.”

“Bahrain is a very important Microsoft market,” said Microsoft Gulf general manager Charbel Fakhoury.

“The Kingdom is fast becoming one of the most vibrant and exciting business locations in the world and Microsoft is committed to the growth and development of the IT industry in Bahrain.

“Bayoumi has been a great asset to the Bahrain office and it will take time to find someone who will show the same degree of dedication to Microsoft Bahrain,” he added.

A replacement will be announced in August, before Bayoumi returns home.
