Bahrain ICT spending may top $138m

Manama, June 29, 2009

Bahrain’s information and communications technology (ICT) expenditure is likely to touch $138.3 million from 2009 until 2011, according to a report.

The total investment outlay, as revealed by the report, stipulates that Bahrain will spend $53.9 million this year.

Furthermore, the forecast also indicates that collectively, mixed-use civil projects in the GCC countries will account for about $2.95 billion in communications hardware spending during the three-year period.

The residential and commercial developments are expected to account for $674 million and $577 million, respectively, it added.

“The increased demand for communications hardware in Bahrain is fuelling high spending from both the private and public sectors. Furthermore, the economy crisis has spurred a shift in organisations’ tactic from merely spending high to spending smart,” said Ahmad Zeidan, channel sales manager, Netgear Middle East.
