Oman ICT event to hold global summit

Muscat, February 18, 2010

ICT experts from the region and around the world will meet at a two-day conference to be held as part of an upcoming ICT exhibition in Oman.

Organised by the Oman International Trade and Exhibitions (OITE) and the Comex Advisory Committee, the 20th edition of Comex will take place from April 26 to 30 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

Comex 2010 will also hold a series of seminars and workshops alongside the expo, the organisers said.

To be held under the theme “Towards Digital Oman”, Comex 2010 will highlight the various eGovernment services that will include eHealth, eLearning, ePayment, brand new IT technology and IT solutions, and even Green IT, among others, a statement said.

“As the majority of the people in Oman are not yet fully aware of the applications of digital technology, Comex is being positioned as a learning platform wherein IT vendors and visitors will have a unique opportunity to learn about the latest services now available in Oman,” said Talal Al Rahbi, chief of information and awareness at the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and chairman of the COMEX Advisory Committee.

Comex will also, for the first time, hold a two-day international ICT conference for ICT experts to share best practices in the industry, and discuss practical ways on how the latest technologies can benefit their organisations.

The conference will also serve as a unique platform for the local IT community to exchange and share expertise and experiences among their regional and international counterparts.

Sadiq Ahmed Khan, director of sales and marketing at OITE, said “New enhanced features of Comex 2010 are set to build on the strength of the country’s biggest ICT event, catering to the B2B and B2C segments.”

“With these new initiatives, Comex 2010 is expecting a record number of visitors,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
