Informatica Qatar (iQ) said it has entered into a strategic deal with two of its major channel partners Safari and Sky Net Group to boost its sales of products from Huawei Technologies.

The iQ is an IT consulting firm and technology solutions provider offering innovative and high-quality systems integration solutions.

Huawei had recently signed up iQ to be the exclusive distributor and after-sales service provider of its Ideos, Ideos X5 and other mobiles it will introduce to the Qatari market.

Safari and Sky Net offer excellent visibility and sales platforms for Huawei’s products, said a iQ statement.

Safari conducts its hypermarket business via four local outlets in Abu Hamour, Salwa Road, Umm Salal and Al Saad, while Sky Net, a mobile phone retailer with 25 outlets, has branches in Najada Souq, Industrial Area, Barwa Village, Salwa Road, and City Center, it added.

'Safari and Sky Net both have strategic locations in Qatar that will enable us to strongly position the Huawei brand and ensure good local accessibility to its products,' remarked Wisam Costandi, general manager, iQ.

'Our agreement with them reflects the strong partnerships we have which enable us to extend the reach of our services and solutions. With its high number of mobile users, Qatar is an excellent market to introduce the world’s best mobility products to the region,' he added.

The Android OS 2.2 (Froyo)-powered Ideos is ideal for heavy users of multimedia, social networking sites, instant messaging and email, while the higher-end Huawei X5 runs on Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) with 3D user interface capability and is intended for professionals and tech enthusiasts.
 
According to him, Qatar has a vibrant mobile phone market, with penetration rates ranging in the high 90 per cent across various age groups.

By the first quarter, subscribers had already reached 2.78 million, and handset sales predicted to total QR295 million by 2014, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
