UAE, Etisalat Academy in deal

Minister of Development Government Sector Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri signed an agreement with Ali Al Sharid, CEO of Etisalat Services, to launch a project to develop employee competencies in the government sector.

Initiating the project, Etisalat Academy will be using the latest methodologies in competency measurement and assessment that the Etisalat Academy has brought to the region and supervised by the Ministry of Development Government Sector.

The signing ceremony was attended by executive director for the ministry Dr Ali Bin Aboud, general manager Etisalat Academy Dr Doaa Fares, manager eCompetency Centre Etisalat Academy Mariam Mohammed and senior staff from the Ministry and Etisalat Academy.

The agreement includes a number of projects for developing employee competencies, with the initial project consisting of 300 cadres chosen to develop their careers through specialised training programmes.

The project will be launched with the positioning of the training path and strategy, set forth as a foundation for training the cadres of the ministries of the UAE.

This will include the training of the human resources managers allowing them to identify the right training and development of employee competencies, alongside a number of experts and consultants. There will be a number of specialised workshops that the cadres will also attend.

Project design and implementation of a number of successive and intensive training courses for managers and human resources managers of the ministries, application of a number of indicators of employee competencies, career assessment centres frameworks, tests, questionnaires, interviews are all based on the assessment of their professional competencies.

To finalise the programme, the competencies will be evaluated electronically which will be designed to suit the different levels of employees in both English and Arabic.

'It is a great pleasure for the Ministry of Development Government Sector to launch this initiative in collaboration with Etisalat Academy to apply the most advanced methodologies in assessment and development for employee competency,' said Al Mansouri.

'Etisalat Academy is considered to be one of the leading academies in training on a regional level and not only in the UAE. Accordingly, the Ministry of Development for the Government Sector will benefit from the Academy's expertise in the development of electronic systems for assessment and evaluations of performance of employees of the government sector. This will span across several stages and each phase will be consulted by the Ministry,' he added.

'It is an honor for Etisalat Services, being represented here by Etisalat Academy, for the participation in this project that the ministry has implemented, and the application of the latest global practices for the development of the government sector in the UAE, especially at its current phase with commencement of several initiatives that support development,' said Al Sharid.
