Dubai, May 1, 2008

Fox Movies, the new free-to-air English movie channel went on-air in the Middle East today (May 1).

Movie lovers across the Middle East will now be able to switch over to world-class movie entertainment with the launch of Fox Movies. The new channel is brought to the region through a partnership between the highly successful and well-loved local group, Rotana Media Services (RMS) and the internationally well-known Fox International Channels (FIC).

The best of Hollywood will only be a click of a remote away with Fox Movies for viewers from the confines of their homes. Given its inherent connection to Hollywood through 20th Century Fox Studios, Fox Movies will undoubtedly present a line-up of movies, current as well as legendary, that are a must-watch for the movie aficionado!

The channel launched with the blockbuster movie Blade Runner – The Final Cut, starring Harrison Ford and directed by Ridley Scott.

This will be the first time this version of the movie will be aired in the region. In addition, Fox Movies will air commercial-free uninterrupted movies and interactive viewing choices.

Movies Uninterrupted gives viewers a chance to watch an entire movie, without being interrupted by advertisements or other breaks in the film whereas, ‘Fox Movies Select’ will allow viewers to text in their preferred choice from a list of movies for that evening’s entertainment.

“Fox Movies is a channel for the movie lover and has been designed keeping in mind our viewers preferences. For all of you out there who have enjoyed our other channels from Rotana, you can rest assured that this new channel will live up to its promise of good content, great experience and even greater understanding of what viewers of this region are looking for,” said president Rotana Media Services Nezar Nagro.

While being quintessentially Hollywood, Fox Movies is going to make the viewing experience as lively and interesting as possible through localized interstitials that will highlight viewers in their everyday lives.

The channel plans to get down into the streets and engage with audiences directly to put their interpretation of Hollywood onto TV screens, in between watching movies on the Fox Movie Channel.

“ Fox Movies is going to bring a new experience  to the region. With Fox Movies we offer you a channel that is unique and innovative in its format and will interact with its viewers. Fox is a highly popular TV brand around the world and it gives us great pleasure to partner with the hugely successful Rotana Media Services group to create Fox Movies, a smart, innovative and youthful TV brand customized for the region,” said president, Fox International Channels, Asia, Ward Platt.
Viewers will also have access to the Fox Movies website, which will with no doubt become the online place to be seen at for an entire community of movie lovers in the Middle East.
