3M forms energy & environment division

Dubai, November 25, 2008

3M, a leading technology company that produces innovative solutions for diverse industries, has launched a 3M Gulf Energy and Environment (E&E) Division.

The new division has been developed in response to the growing awareness and demand for green solutions around the Middle East. It will seek to provide sustainable solutions for industry and society in general, as part of the Middle East’s ongoing sustainability drive.

“In setting up the E&E Division, we are helping to meet the needs of Middle Eastern society today, to help ensure a sustainable planet for future generations,” said Obaid AbdelRahman, country business manager, 3M Energy and Environment.

“3M has long been committed to environmental sustainability – even before this came to the forefront of the world’s consciousness – and we have been seeking to reduce our company’s impact on the environment and save natural resources since the development of our pioneering Pollution Prevention Pays (3P) program, 30 years ago,” AbdelRahman added.

The new division encompasses corrosion protection, fire suppression and halon replacement, specialty additives for light weight cementing and paint industry, and polymer processing additives for the polyethylene industry.

In recognition of 3M’s commitment to sustainability, the company is consistently included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which tracks the performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
