Dubai, November 26, 2008

The Energy and Environment Park (Enpark), was the  ‘GreenLEEDer Sponsor’ of the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building that was organised by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) in Boston.

Enpark, a member of Tecom Business Parks, presented its environment-friendly initiatives under the theme, ‘Revolutionary Green: Innovations for Global Sustainability’, at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo 2008 which was held from November 19 to 21.

In his presentation at the workshop ‘Positioning Building Products for the Green Market’, Sougata Nandi, director Sustainable Development at Enpark, highlighted the benefits of green buildings and ways to comply with green standards.

During the workshop on ‘LEED Standards for Neighbourhood Development’, Nandi outlined Enpark’S role in raising awareness about sustainability concepts in the GCC region.

”We are proud to be associated with a global event that offered us a vital platform to share our green projects with global businesses. The event also provided us an opportunity to learn about similar initiatives being implemented by our industry peers worldwide,' stated Ali Bin Towaih, executive director, Enpark.

“Enpark has played a major role in spreading awareness on promoting sustainable concepts in the region. We seek to engage our stakeholders in this mission through actively pioneering more efficient uses of key resources such as energy, water, raw materials and land, as well as sustainable technology and design, according to the LEED Certified Green Buildings Integrated Standards,” he added.

Industry estimates by McGraw Hill Construction’s Green Outlook 2009, released prior to the event, indicated a five-fold increase in the value of green building market in the US that has jumped from $10 billion to $49 billion between 2005 and 2008. This is expected to triple by 2013 to touch $140 billion, according to the report.
