Dubai 92 unveils new branding, program lineup

Dubai, October 3, 2009

Dubai 92, part of the Arabian Radio Network (ARN), has unveiled its new branding and said that it is revamping its programming lineup with an exciting mix of fun and music shows 'to guarantee its continued relevance to UAE listeners.'

The new programming comes after months of carefully polling listeners and working closely with a brand specialist to define what people love about Dubai 92, said a top official.

Mahmoud Al Rasheed, general manager of ARN, said: “We are proud of Dubai 92’s achievements. At the same time, we also realise that we have to continue refining the content and presentation to remain even more relevant to the market. We remain constantly in touch with our audience and their valuable feedback has helped us draw up the new programming line-up. We are confident the listeners will continue to enjoy our offering.”

The station will retain its most popular asset, the award-winning Catboy and Geordiebird Breakfast Show, which has won accolades both locally and internationally. Also, expect to hear a new and improved daytime show hosted by long-serving Dubai 92 presenter Nathalie Shariat.

The radio station, which won top honours in the Best of Dubai Awards 2009, will treat listeners to a new evening drive show hosted by Rod Maldon, an Australian presenter, who will leave a loyal fan base Down Under to relocate to Dubai, Al Rasheed added.

Another new evening show will see presenters Tom and Dan team up from 20:00 until midnight, while radio stars Hamish and Andy will bring the laughs straight from Melbourne on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Steve Smith, COO of ARN, said: “It is a truism in radio that every four or five years there has to be a thorough evaluation of whether or not the brand is still delivering at its best. There is no such thing as staying on course and hoping for the best — it is imperative to be dynamic and change with your audience.”

Steve Pulley, head of Programming, Dubai 92, said: “Our new identity is all about strengthening our core brand essence while adding more to our offerings. The new programming comes after months of carefully polling listeners and working closely with a brand specialist to define what people love about Dubai 92.'

'Listeners can look forward to a tighter mix of music that is guaranteed to appeal, and more fun shows that will keep them entertained during their morning and evening drives,' he remarked.

Featuring top-billed programming and quality presenters, Dubai 92 has carved a niche for itself for its exclusive content among the UAE broadcasters.

The Arabian Radio Network comprises eight stations including Virgin Radio Dubai 104.4, Dubai Eye 103.8, City 101.6, HIT 96.7, Al Arabiya 99.0, Al Khaleejiya 100.9, and Noor Dubai 93.9.-TradeArabia News Service
