Axis launches ‘smart’ network camera

Dubai, March 22, 2010

Axis Communications, the global market leader in the network video market, has launched a small and smart camera for securing locations such as small businesses, boutiques, restaurants, hotels and residences.

The affordable, intuitive and reliable Axis M1054 network camera offers HDTV image quality and smart video surveillance features, a statement said.

“Axis M1054 is an extension to the hugely successful Axis M10 Series that was introduced last year, and adds several features that have been requested by customers, including power over Ethernet and HDTV,” said Baraa Al Akkad, regional manager Axis Communications, ME.

The camera offers video quality at 30 frames per second in HDTV 720 pixel resolution. Axis M1054 comes with Power over Ethernet IEEE 802.3af support, reducing installation costs since only one cable is needed for carrying power and video.

Axis M1054 includes the same features as the popular Axis M1031-W, such as a passive infrared (PIR) sensor for detecting movement even in the dark, and a white LED light for illuminating the scene automatically when motion is detected or when requested by the user.

It supports two-way audio with an integrated microphone and speaker, allowing remote users to listen in on an area as well as communicate with visitors or intruders.

Uploaded or recorded audio clips can also be played in response to an alarm event. In addition to these features, it includes I/O for connecting devices such as sensors and external relays to activate lights or open/close doors.

Axis M1054 provides multiple H.264 as well as Motion JPEG streams. H.264 compression enables optimization of storage and bandwidth efficiency by significantly reducing the bit rate.

Using progressive scan technology, the camera provides HDTV images of moving objects without motion blur, the statement added. – TradeArabia News Service
