Bahrain campaign to promote eKiosk payments

Manama, June 30, 2010

Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority recently launched its summer awareness campaign, which aims to familiarise the public with the available electronic services with a special focus on eKiosk payment facilities.

The eKiosk provides users the opportunity to carry out their electronic transactions smoothly and contributes to closing the gap between the public and the government services to strengthen the concept of quality and integrity in all the services provided, a statement said.

The 35 eKiosks are distributed in different locations in Bahrain.

“The eGovernment Authority is keen to launch these awareness campaigns ongoing basis in order to introduce all our electronic services and educate the public through the various channels serving as a reminder to how citizens can utilize the portal,” said Mohammed Ziad Asfour, assistant director of marketing and awareness directorate at the eGovernment Authority, at Bahrain City Centre, where the campaign was launched to run from June 16 to July 31.

“Within this context we have launched our summer campaign at the mall, where public mostly spend their time in the holidays, to introduce the eKiosk and explain to the visitors of our stand how it works, highlighting security level features, privacy and flexibility of these machines,” he added.

Asfour said that placing the eKiosk in public venues such as malls, hospitals, schools, banks and other governmental premises is in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 aimed at providing all government services for all individuals and institutions.

The campaign also aims to add a sense of amusement and educational entertainment whereby stand visitors get a chance to participate in the eKiosk competition by answering the question relating to the kiosk and placing answer for a raffle draw that will end on July 16.

Currently, the eKiosks are providing a number of electronic government services. Three of these services provide payment services – electricity and water outage complaints, renewal and payment of mailboxes, and payment of criminal order. – TradeArabia News Service
