Bahrain recalls envoy to Iran

Manama, March 16, 2011

Bahrain has decided to recall its ambassador to Iran immediately for consultation. It also condemned the blatant Iranian interference in its internal affairs.

This came in the wake of a statement issued by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, regarding Bahrain's recent developments and its sovereign decision to invite the Peninsula Shield forces.

'The statement is a blatant interference in Bahrain's sovereign internal affairs,' Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary for Regional Affairs and the GCC Hamad Al Amer said.

Bahrain slammed the interference by a country supposed to have good neighbourly relations with it.

He also announced that Bahrain was in contact with the UN, the Security Council member countries, the GCC, the Arab League and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference regarding the Iranian interference.-TradeArabia News Service
