Diyar Al Muharraq plans clean-up drive

Manama, June 5, 2011

Diyar Al Muharraq, one of Bahrain’s biggest mixed-use residential urban developments, said it is embarking on an eco-friendly clean up campaign this week to mark the World Environment Day on June 5.

World Environment Day is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

Diyar Al Muharraq said it has emerged as a leader in the successful implementation of corporate social and environmental responsibility with a clean-up drive at Um Jaileed Island, said a company statement.

The campaign, to be conducted on June 10, is one of the many ways that Diyar Al Muharraq has been involved as a part of its very focused and dynamic environmental campaign.

The company has worked hard to reduce the human footprint on the environment taking it upon itself to find new opportunities and challenges where the implementation of programs would protect and serve the environment, it added.

On the campaign, CEO Aaref Hejres said, "Diyar Al Muharraq has been a keen advocate of green and eco- friendly activities, encouraging employees as well as the public to take part in environmentally-focused volunteer projects."

"The participation will help everyone learn ways to lessen their environmental impact and identify areas of collaboration and cooperation," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
