Esmod Dubai opens Paris studio expo

Dubai, December 7, 2011

Esmod Dubai, the only French institute fully dedicated to fashion in the region, has opened an exhibition of a prestigious Paris-based photography studio as well as a pop up photo studio at Dubai’s Wafi mall.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries and VIP guests including Eric Giraud-Telme, Consul General of France in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The Harcourt Paris photography studio was founded in Paris in 1934 by Cosette Harcourt together with the media magnates Lacroix brothers and Robert Ricci, son of Nina Ricci.

Running from December 1 until January 8, the original exhibition features the studio’s most emblematic works, including fashion portraits of Sir Karl Lagerfeld and other renowned fashion personalities and movie stars.

Studio Harcourt has also set up its mythical pop up studio in the soon-to-be-opened Esmod Fashion Store at Wafi, which will give UAE residents a chance to come under the legendary spotlights.

The pop up studio will be open till December 11 on a prior-appointment basis. This will be a rare opportunity for people to get their portrait photographs taken by one of the world’s most sought-after studios, in a highly sophisticated set-up involving makeup artists and lighting. Importantly these large portraits will be ideal to adorn the living rooms of homes.

Francis Dagnan, chairman, Studio Harcourt Paris, said, “With Dubai’s growing prominence in the global art and fashion landscape, we were keen on venturing into this high potential market, while giving an opportunity for the people to enjoy the very best of Studio Harcourt Paris. In Esmod Dubai and Wafi mall we found the perfect partners to make our foray here and create the impact we desired.”

Tamara Hostal, director and founder, Esmod Dubai, said, “Ever since our inception in Dubai we have been committed to making significant contributions to raising the region’s fashion profile and also promoting various forms of art such as photography. Inviting the legendary Studio Harcourt Paris to Esmod Dubai is very much in line with this commitment, which we share with Wafi mall.”

“We urge people to not miss this rare opportunity to have a world-class portrait of their family captured by one of the most famous studios,” she added.

Geoffrey Rimmer, Business Development and Leasing manager, Wafi mall, said, “Promoting art and culture has always been high priority for us at Wafi, and we were excited to team up with Esmod Dubai to bring the prestigious Studio Harcourt Paris to this city. Studio Harcourt Paris proudly continues its tradition of exceptional excellence and is still regarded as the benchmark for the new generation, including celebrities from world over.”

Exhibition timings are from 10 am to 10 pm Saturday to Wednesday, and 10 am to midnight on Thursday and Friday. Entry to the exhibition is free. – TradeArabia News Service
