Bahrain MP seeks fuel subsidy for Gulf Air

Manama, April 16, 2012

Bahrain’s government must subsidise fuel for Gulf Air's use, as part of the government’s backing for the national carrier, said a member of the parliament.

The company should not be closed under any circumstances because of massive administrative mistakes, and different sides must share responsibility, said Abdulhameed Al Meer.

The national carrier should be supported, but with conditions imposed, as previously indicated by the MPs, so that state funds are not wasted, he said, pointing out that many airlines receive government fuel subsidies. – TradeArabia News Service
