Fire which broke out at an upmarket block on the artificial island the Palm in Dubai, UAE on Monday has been completely extinguished, the emirate's media office reported.

The building has been safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, the Dubai Media Office said on its Twitter account.

Earlier, the media office said on its Twitter account that civil defence teams were battling the blaze which broke out at the Oceana, a residential compound on the palm-shaped island.
