Thrifty Oman to increase fleet size by 10pc

Muscat, November 14, 2010

Thrifty Car Rental, a franchisee of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, has announced that it is increasing its fleet size by 10 per cent in response to a strong demand for car rental in the sultanate.

“We are expecting a surge in business during the next two months, due to the number of holidays and also the perfect weather conditions which will encourage outdoor activity,” said Mehdi Jaffer, deputy managing director, Thrifty Car Rental Oman.

“The majority of the new fleet comprises 4WDs as we have experienced a higher demand for them this year in comparison to 2009. We also have the latest Sat Nav technology available for hire often requested due to the nature of travel in Oman.”

“In light of the excessive demand for car rental, Thrifty Oman has also ramped up its road side assistance services to provide round-the-clock breakdown support,” Jaffer continued.

In addition to the recent fleet and technology upgrades, Thrifty Oman has opened a new outlet in Ruwi, a prime business district in the sultanate.

“We have experienced an excellent year in terms of business revenues and developments in Oman. Tourism has significantly improved in 2010, and demand for car rental services will increase with the number of leisure and business travelers set to rise with the continued global economic recovery,” said Jaffer.

Thrifty Oman outlets can currently be found in Salalah, Sohar, Muscat, Ruwi and Al Khuwair.-TradeArabia News Service
