Bapco denies lay-off claim

Manama, December 26, 2009

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has dismissed as baseless a newspaper report that the company could lay off 1,000 to 1,500 employees in February 2010, based on Mackenzie recommendations.

Bapco has no intention to make any of its staff redundant or close down any of its departments, a company source said, stressing its commitment to support employees and improve their professional performance through training and development programmes.

The company enjoys a sound financial status and has accomplished 80 years of success in running Bahrain’s oil operations, our sister publication Akhbar Al Khaleej quoted the source as saying. – TradeArabia News Service
