ABB wins $27m Oman power contract

Muscat, January 24, 2011

ABB said it has won a $27 million order from Oman Electricity Transmission Company to supply power transformers for installation at various substations in the Sultanate.

The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2010, said a statement from the leading power and automation technology group.

The contract scope includes the supply of transformers in 2011, rated at 125 megavolts ampere (MVA), to be delivered and installed at various substations in the Oman power grid.

”These energy efficient transformers will help facilitate the flow of additional supplies of quality power to meet growing demand in the country, and will also strengthen the reliability of the grid,” said Saeed Fahim, country manager, ABB in Oman.

Transformers are integral components of any electrical grid and are a critical element in the efficient and safe conversion of energy across diverse voltage systems.

ABB is a leading global transformer manufacturer, offering a full-range portfolio for ANSI, IEC and other local standards that includes power transformers rated up to 1,000kV, dry- and liquid-distribution transformers, as well as related services and components.-TradeArabia News Service
