Adipec set to welcome 85,000 visitors

ABU DHABI, November 8, 2015

The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec), set to open tomorrow (November 9) in the UAE capital, will bring together 85,000 energy professionals from more than 120 countries.

Held under the theme “Innovation and Sustainability in a New Energy World”, Adipec 2015 marks its 18th edition by breaking its previous records with the largest event to date, gathering 2,000 exhibiting companies, including the world’s leading national and international companies, 600 speakers and 7,000 delegates.

The first day of the landmark oil and gas exhibition and conference, which is hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and organised by dmg events, will kick-off with the Official Opening Ceremony, followed by a keynote address by the world’s leading authority on energy, Dr Daniel Yergin, who will share his insights on the transforming energy landscape.

Billed as the premier speaking platform for the Mena region, the Adipec Conference Programme will invite government decision makers to the stage tomorrow in a Ministerial Panel Session that will focus on driving innovation through investments in research and development, and stakeholder collaboration.

Day one will also feature the first of two CEO Plenary Sessions that will highlight the important roles of innovation and leadership in advancing the energy sector.

Closing the first day, the annual Adipec Awards will announce the 2015 winners of the prestigious accolades during a Gala Dinner and Ceremony at the Emirates Palace. The distinguished awards recognise individuals, companies, and projects that demonstrate excellence, best practice, and innovation in energy from around the globe.

Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, strategy and coordination director at Adnoc, and Adipec 2015 chairman, said: “The strong expected presence at Adipec 2015 from local and international exhibitors, as well as global experts, cements its position as one of the world’s leading oil and gas events. Adipec is a reflection of Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s longstanding reputation as a meeting place for oil and gas professionals, and a global knowledge-exchange hub for the latest research, technologies, and innovations in the energy sector.”

“The excellence that we are all witnessing in the UAE’s oil and gas industry is made possible through the unwavering support of the country’s leadership,” Al Shamsi added.

Christopher Hudson, president – Global Energy, dmg events, said: “Now recognised as a world-leading oil and gas conference, Adipec has become the industry’s global platform for knowledge exchange, bringing together some of the most prominent figures in the industry to address the impending issues facing the energy sector. The event serves as a unique international hub, where key industry trends are discussed, new developments are introduced, and best practices from around the world are shared.”

The record-breaking Adipec 2015 Technical Conference, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), will deliver almost 600 technical presentations in more than eight discipline categories, organised across 79 technical sessions throughout the event.

The exclusive VIP Programme, dedicated to members of the Middle East Petroleum Club, will provide a fresh outlook to the business world with lessons from ‘The World’s Greatest Living Explorer’, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and insights from social engagement and future business thought-leader, Jon Duschinsky.
