Dewa to unveil key projects at energy summit

DUBAI, January 18, 2016

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) will be showcasing its promising initiatives and renewable energy projects at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) which opens today in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Dubai utility has signed up as an efficiency sponsor for the annual event, which runs for the next three days at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Masdar is hosting the WFES 2016, a major annual global event where brilliant minds meet to exchange ideas and explore the latest updates and challenges related to the future of the energy sector.

It focuses on exploring growing investment opportunities in clean energy in the Middle East and Africa, a region regarded as a promising market for renewable energy, said the organisers.

It is being held under the patronage of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) which runs till January 23.

ADSW is an international platform that will gather more than 32,000 participants to discuss economic development challenges, water security, poverty, energy, climate change and other key issues affecting the adoption of sustainable solutions and applications for sustainable development and clean energy.

On its key role at the event, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and CEO of Dewa, said: "We are happy to support and sponsor WFES in acknowledgment of the event’s importance as a platform for enhancing knowledge, research and government development and for meeting experts on renewable clean energy to exchange skills and best practices."

Dewa, he stated, will be showcasing its skills in energy efficiency and clean energy and showcasing Dubai’s renewable energy projects such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park at the event.

"Also we will be sharing our experience, achievements, programmes, and current and future promising innovative projects as well as latest services and smart initiatives at the summit," said Al Tayer.

At the summit, Dewa will be highlighting its expertise in adopting and applying the best sustainability practices and implementing renewable energy projects as well as related research and development activities.

According to him, Dewa actively participates in energy- and water-themed national and international events to exchange skills, experiences and best practices with various concerned parties and explore the latest updates and advanced green technology solutions that can further develop its administrative, operational and service dimensions.

"This summit will enable us to take a closer look at the latest techniques and practices that can help us find innovative solutions for the energy sector that can be used to build a sustainable future for everyone and unify efforts to face current challenges in the sector and find new business opportunities in renewable and clean energy,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
