Ahlia Gulf among Coca Cola award nominees

Oman and UAE-based Ahlia Gulf Line (AGL Coca-Cola) General Trading Company, was nominated amongst the Top10 of the ‘Best Country Bottling Operations’ as part of Coca-Cola’s Eurasia and Africa Group’s Annual Sustainability Awards.

The company has been nominated for the third year in a row, a statement from Ahlia said.  

The finalists who competed for the grand prize included Coca-Cola Hellenic in Armenia, Coca-Cola Icecek in Azerbaijan, Wave Beverages in India, Brindavan Agro Industries in India, Brasseries de Bourbon in La Reunion, National Beverage Company in Palestinian Authority Areas, Peninsula Beverage Company in South Africa, Sabco Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka, Sabco Century Bottling Company in Uganda, and AGL Coca-Cola in UAE and Oman.

AGL Coca-Cola reduced the amount of water used in the production of beverages by 43.4 per cent, and the energy used since 2004 by 56 per cent, the statement said.

Emphasising bottling partners’ roles in building sustainable communities, Coca-Cola Eurasia and Africa Group, president, AhmetBozer, said: “The private sector and community are in fact not separate entities, they are one. They either thrive together, or fail.”

“Constantly innovating and working towards making our business more environmentally beneficial to the communities in which we serve, from light weighting beverage packaging to supporting sustainability-focused initiatives, AGL Coca-Cola UAE and Oman’s goal is to make a long term, holistic and positive impact on its local communities,” concluded Deepak Kaul, managing director of AGL Coca-Cola. – TradeArabia News Service
