Unilever concludes regional chef contest

Dubai, June 12, 2012

Unilever Food Solutions has concluded ‘The Chef of The Year’ regional contest, awarding Paul Bussey with the title.

The event was held at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in Dubai.

Bussey serves as the executive sous chef at Bonnington Hotel in Dubai. Maxime Le Van and Georgiy Daniloff secured the second and third positions respectively at the event.

Each contestant cooked a starter, a main course and dessert, and all courses needed to serve three people.

Moreover, each competing chef was given a mystery basket to try out their culinary skills using UFS products.

The contestants were judged on the number of UFS products used, innovation of the products, originality of recipes, difficulty and skill required for fusion of flavours, portion obedience, presentation, methods and techniques, a statement from Unilever said.

Eelco Camminga, vice president, South Africa, Middle East, and Pakistan, Unilever Food Solutions, said: “For Unilever Food Solutions, the competition is about pushing the boundaries of creativity, imagination and skill; about uniting behind our talented chefs and going to great lengths to provide them with solutions and inspiration for use in their own kitchens every day.”

Bussey will leave for Johannesburg, South Africa, in September to take part in the final competition, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
